Kelpie – Demon of the Dark Waters

Hidden in the dark waters of Scotland is the Kelpie – a water demon that most often takes the form of a powerful horse. Its wet mane glistens in the moonlight as drops of cold water run down its skin.

You may even feel sorry for the lonely creature standing there. You step closer, stroke its body and finally take hold of the reins.

And in that moment, everything changes.

The demon no longer lets you go. Its eyes darken, and the Kelpie breaks into an increasingly wild gallop. By then, you already sense there is no escape: either you surrender to the demon’s seduction, or simply watch as the water around you grows deeper and deeper.

The strength of such a massive, demonic horse is frightening enough on its own – especially when you are the one trying to ride and control it.

You feel its cold, wet body growing warmer with every movement. You hear the heavy pounding of hooves and feel water splashing across your skin as the Kelpie carries you faster and wilder. Its muscles tighten beneath you, its strength almost overwhelming, yet you refuse to let it take complete control.

The gallop becomes faster and the water rises higher around you. The cold night turns almost suffocating, until all you can feel is the demon’s power and your own increasingly rapid breath.

At last, the gallop slows. The water becomes calm again, and you remain beside the creature with trembling legs and breathless lun.

And perhaps you are already wondering when you will dare to take the reins again.
