The Pumpkin Warden Totem is a young, “unfinished” form of the Cursed Pumpkin – as if a cursed pumpkin’s seeds had sprouted in the damp soil of an old crypt field. Three small pumpkins grow on top of one another like a tiny totem pole – together they form the “pumpkin warden”.

On crypt fields where buried desires, radiation and old curses mingle beneath the earth, faintly glowing pumpkin clumps sometimes emerge – not like ordinary pumpkins, but like clusters of strange fungi. These are twisted seed-spawn of the Cursed Pumpkin:
– if left alone, they can eventually mutate back into a huge, monstrous pumpkin,
– but if harvested properly by an experienced crypt-walker, they behave as stable, wearable totems.

The key is the cut:
the Pumpkin Warden Totem must be cut just beneath the bottom gourd, exactly where the stem begins to widen again.
Those who cut it in the wrong place do not bring home a calm little warden, but unstable, wandering pumpkin wisps that creep back to the crypt fields at night.

Among grave robbers, succubi and wandering mages there is a saying:
“Cut a Warden pumpkin wrong, and you’re not taking home a totem – you’re taking home trouble.”
