Unicorn – The Horn of Pure Desire

Unicorns are rare inhabitants of deep forests and forgotten springs. Old stories say they reveal themselves only to those in whom they sense no ill intent – and rarer still is the person they allow truly close.

Their magical power is concentrated within their horn. It was once believed to purify poisoned water, heal wounds and reveal lies.

Older bestiaries, however, speak of another ability.

A unicorn’s horn can sense desires hidden in the deepest reaches of the soul. If it allows you close enough, and you are brave enough to touch it, those desires slowly begin to awaken.

When a unicorn lowers its head before you, it is not an act of submission.

It is trust.

Beneath your fingers, the spiralling horn feels cool and silky at first. As you continue to caress it, it slowly grows warmer, until you realise the heat is no longer coming from the horn alone –

it is coming from you as well.

The unicorn steps closer.

It does not rush you. It demands nothing.

Your skin begins to tingle, your breathing quickens, and the desire you had buried so deeply no longer pulses only within your soul –

but within your body as well.

It becomes harder and harder to tell whether the unicorn’s magic truly awakened this feeling within you…

or whether you have simply stopped lying to yourself about what you truly desire.

A unicorn’s horn will not grant every wish. It only reveals which one you truly wanted.
